"Now one of the criminals hanging there reviled Jesus, saying, “Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us.” The other, however, rebuking him, said in reply, “Have you no fear of God, for you are subject to the same condemnation? And indeed, we have been condemned justly, for the sentence we received corresponds to our crimes, but this man has done nothing criminal.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” He replied to him, “Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
I know too that if I were judged according to my crimes I am a doomed man and I thank you Lord for your perfect and infinite mercy and perfect infinite justice. You, Lord, have done everything and I have done nothing. You shower me with kingly gifts and I overlook your splendorous generosity. I did not do anything to deserve my beautiful family, my wife, my very life. As an infant I did not work or perform great deeds or even good ones. I had no position, but to receive the pure love that even kept my very body alive. And now too I have done no great deed, but you have made me a father and a husband. Titles first from heaven and given to man from divinity. I see the weight of your cross Lord and cannot bear it, but you have said,
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
And though the challenges you present to me seem daunting and the struggles persist in my life I still remember your words again whenever I doubt I can live as you ask. You tell me again in the face of my many sins and tell me as you have told your apostles.
Jesus looked at them and said, “For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” Matthew Chapter 19 verse 26Thank you Lord for the great mercy of the sacrament of Reconciliation.
Oh my God I am heartily sorry for having offended you.
I detest all of my sins because of your just punishments,
but most of all Lord because I have offended you my Lord, my God, my Love and my All
Who are most deserving of all my love and I firmly intend by the help of your good graces to seek Confession as soon as possible and to sin no more and avoid the very near occasion of sin. Amen
